"What I've Learned"
I learned about cultural identity and how to specify them, based on different kinds
of culture. For example, is culture shock. This is about emotional and mental reactions, a
feeling of being judged, loneliness, and anxiety.
We also discussed the cultural iceberg model. This compares culture to an iceberg, which
has visible parts on the water's surface and invisible parts underwater. This means that we
only see a few aspects of our culture at the top of the iceberg and there are actually more
things that people haven't discovered yet which is the bottom of the iceberg. I also learned a
lot about my classmates's cultural identity, about Venezuela. It has a lot of delicious food in
Venezuela, one example is Avepa. They also have an amazing colorful festival, where people
dance along with the music and wear colorful costumes. I also learned about the culture in
China. They absolutely love tea so much, it is their traditional drink. They also have a panda
which symbolizes them as luck and peace. Lastly, we also did a group activity about the
commonalities that we talk about in sports. For example, me and my three classmates play
ping pong and watch NBA.
